I am totally crazy about music.........rather I can't live without music.
While I am thankful for everything that God has given me, I think that it is music that I am most grateful for; the ability to hear & enjoy good music (and fortunately carry a tune in a voice that most people say isn't that bad!)
Recently I stumbled upon a debate between which movie has better music - Om Shanti Om or Saawariya.
While I am one of the biggest SRK fans around (have been since his Fauji days) and can never seem to find faults with any of his films, this time I have been more addicted to the music of Saawariya.......is it because of the classical touches, or is it because it sounds really unpretentious, or perhaps it is because it is a totally fresh sound..or perhaps because it is a blend of all these.
While OSO's music is typical Bollywood masti......Saawariya shows a rare breed of tasteful music. For a change even my Dad said..."this sounds nice"!
But people are swooning more over OSO.............why? Is this a sign that the GenX doesn't really appreciate good music? Have our ears been blasted by the loud and incessant drumming and rhythms used in songs these days? Or is it becuase we are more interested in whatever seems the closest to the West?
